This new version of Y!Amp works with Yahoo! Messenger 10 and below, and now supports Last.FM, an application that takes what you’re listening to in nearly any media player and shows it on the Last.FM website. The good thing about this is that if you use Last.FM, Y!Amp can simply use it to show what you’re listening to instead of you having to specify a specific media player, such as Winamp, iTunes, etc. Pretty much, whatever Last.FM supports, Y!Amp supports, if you use Last.FM. Pretty cool, isn’t it? Also, the ‘no numbers showing’ issue has to FIXED!

I know, I already have a working version of Y!Amp made for Yahoo! Messenger 9, but it does not work for any older versions of Yahoo! yet since I lost all of the source and am having to do it all again.

all because the version wont work on your sooo updated messenger doesnt mean your messenger isnt worth anything at all. creating programs takes time and if you try to consider the project isnt supported by all the higher ups and its for free.. so might as well shut your weasels up. and wait for the time he finally gets the thing right.. as for the mean time. wait. :)

Originally I was going to have it where you could use the default skin with images, or select different colors and set the opacity (transparency) of the program as well.
I think I’ll still do that but have it where you can tell it to load a different skin, too, and at that point you could make your own skin for it. :)

Sometimes the status changes only in the top part where you type in the status, but in the contact list is frozen on another older status. But I remember this was happening with the other Y!amp versions, but not so often like now.

Hey, I can fix that, but I tried to prevent it this time around. The only way I know how to fix it and how I did it before was to have Y!Amp quickly change your status to “available” then back to the new song you switched to. I’ll see if there’s a better way when I get off work.

I haven’t figured out what I can do to get the headphones icon to work in Yahoo! Messenger 9. The old way no longer works. There is still a way to do it, but I haven’t taken the time to figure it out yet. You’re Y!Amp will notify you when there’s an update available, though. :)

@CK: If it’s scrolling, it something you have set in Winamp or the skin in Winamp, not Y!Amp. Also, it freezes for you because Yahoo! Messenger will lock your status if you change it too many times in a short time frame, so again, that is not Y!Amp doing that, it’s Yahoo! Messenger.

hails dude! very good job with y!amp9, i used y!amp8 with messenger 8 and AIMP2, worked like charm! but 9 version in AIMP2 doesn’t show the numers in the song titles and it’s posting 3 dots (***) at the beginning of every song, it’s very enoying, so what i’m trying to say that Winamp sux, AIMP rulz, and please make the new release of your Y!Amp compatible with those 2 (Ymess9 and AIMP2).

@DemonElite: I’m not really sure what to say, I tested it on all versions of Yahoo! Messenger and it worked for me. Again, make sure “Remember my ID and Password” is checked on Messenger.

@Ionutz: That sounds like a permissions issue. Are you on Windows Vista?
If so, you need to close Y!Amp, and re-open it, but right click on it and go to “Run as Administrator.” Or, to make it run as an administrator every time, right-click on it, go to Properties, go to the “Compatability” tab, and check “Run this program as an administrator.” That way, everytime Y!Amp starts, it will already be in “administrator” mode.

Nick, Y!Amp M8 works perfectly on Y!M 8 and older. But the Y!Amp M9 works on Y!M 9 very rare. For example, it worked only for a few songs, then the status frozen for more than half an hour. Now, I am on the Administrator account (I’m using this one too :D ) and the status doesn’t change, but I can manually change it lol.

@steve: Last time I fixed it, I tested it with a few songs I had that had numbers in them, no issues. Then again, it seems like other songs people have bring the number issue back up, but I am simply too lazy to fully fix it until I have a big incentive to do it.

Has anyone else encountered the ” ) ” problem? The bracket won’t show up in my status. Although, if I fill the “before” or “after” fields with a ” ) “, it shows up. But if it’s part of the song title, it doesn’t. The status looks a bit … unattractive, if I may say so, without that bracket. Fortunately, there are few songs that contain brackets in their title :)

i’ve encountered a problem: on Y!msgr 8 it cycles old status messages instead of showing last.fm songs (even though i’ve selected last.fm application in the settings tab). do anyone knows if it’s working on y!msgr + last.fm ?

salut man, vroiam doar sa iti spun ca este super programul, numai o intrebare am, la cel pentru versiunea 9 de messenger, mergea sa iti arate si numele videoclipului din kmplayer, se poate face ceva si la versiunea noua?

Hey nick, Nice to see your site is doing well. Great Job on Y! Amp this is what 7 Years + Strong and still going. Question are you still using my old update method. Cause I wrote a new one that will automatically Download and Restart the Applications. If ya want, send me an e-mail and I will send it to ya. Its Written in VB 2008 tho, Not sure if you changed the Language for Y! Amp or not.

Hi again Nick,
I hope you remember me :D.
I’ve updated to Y! Messenger 10 a few weeks ago and this version works well too.
I’ve noticed a “problem” with lastFM:
If I check the option in LastFM to send playing info to Skype, then Y!Amp won’t get the info anymore. Maybe you already knew this, maybe not, but I felt that it may be usefull to you.
To solve this I switch Y!Amp to leech directly from Winamp and and let LastFM to send info to Skype, so both messenger programs get the status info.
Also, is strange how many romanian replys you get.

i tried everything i have the latest ym version 10 seem to me its not working i delete all my status its empty but still not working but the song is showing on the y!Amp bar but not on my status.

Y!Amp 10 nu are virusi, l`am scanat cu avast! antivirus. luati cu incredere. (ar trebui sa incercati avast`ul si nu o sa va dezamageasca de 6 ani si nu am avut niciodata probleme. daca nu va permiteti sa il cumparati, il puteti lua de pe torrente cu keygen).

Y!Amp 10 works great, but I have one question for you, have you ever given any consideration to finding a way to set the winamp, itunes or lastfm etc. song title to blue the way it is in messenger 10 when you use a youtube link in your stauts message. My friend would like it in pink, but that seems less doable then in the blus as that already exists. Thanks for any feedback

I doubt Yim 11 support will be added, It uses a new way to set status messages then any prioer without been a actual yahoo messenger plugin.

@oka: I honestly don’t know, I’ve had this problem for years. I’ve contacted a few of the anti-virus makers and they removed it from the virus database, but still others are showing it as being a virus.
