New Design
Posted in Site News by Nick on December 5th, 2008
Welcome to the new, fresh EliteNick.com! I took advice from many people on this one, and decided to really give it my all. There are a few pages I need to completely remake, but for the most part, the site is done. It is of course XHTML and CSS valid, and I tried some new techniques, just as Collis from PSDTUTS suggested.
Not only will you notice a more professional, organized design, I also decided to make everything on this website myself. By that I mean not using free, downloadable icons, brushes, etc. The RSS icon, the illustrations in the headers, the favicon, everything was done by me. Yes, I am proud! That also goes for code: Of course, I am using WordPress, but in terms of the CSS and XHTML, again, all me. I even did a few hacks to WordPress with PHP to get things the way I wanted. It’s pretty much perfect, for now.
You should also notice that it loads a lot faster. I know that I saw a huge increase in load time when I got the new design up. Even though there are a few large images, I read that it is better to have a few large ones with less HTTP requests than to have a bunch of small images. I even took it down to hover effects on button images, by making one image with both states and using CSS to move the image when your mouse hovers it.
Also, I’ve fixed the Y!Amp bug where it wouldn’t show any numbers. I sent it to a user on MySpace for testing, but haven’t gotten anything back yet. I may just release it tonight or tomorrow. If you have “Check for updates” enabled in Y!Amp, you’ll know when I release this update.
I also recieved a comment on my Tap Tap Revenge Extreme YouTube video from “Tapulous”, the makers of Tap Tap Revenge. If you don’t know what that is, it’s sort of a Dance Dance Revolution-esque game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Anyway, they like the song, and are interested in putting it in the game! Hopefully, soon here, it will be in it.
Many more updates are in the works, since I really wanted to get this new design up and running before doing anything else.
But enough rambling – what do you think? And what else do you want to see on the site? More of the same?

Nice i like the new look. Will that song be for TapTap dance too? Tapulous released a new game called TapTap Dance a few days ago and it is more like guitar hero. They have actual holds and its based like a story mode instead of free play. Just wondering if it will be on TTD too.

@Joost: Thanks. I saw Tap Tap Dance as well. I am not sure. I would say it belongs in both games, since it is a “dance” type song, but the song says “Tap Tap Revenge” so it sort of fits as being one of the hardest songs for Tap Tap Revenge, but at the same time being a good dance song for Tap Tap Dance. We’ll see :p
